Preston Innovations Inception 3D 150 Seatbox Review
I review the Preston Innovations Inception 3D 150 Seat box. With huge amounts of storage and a cassette style footplate - is this the box you've been looking for?
After the huge success of the Inception SL30, Preston Innovations took to heart comments made by the fishing community to lunch the new and improved Inception 3D 150 fishing seat box.
The lightweight and spacious fishing seat box designed with Coarse Fishing in mind might be the perfect choice for your next battle station - especially if you're looking for a fishing seat box with exceptional storage - read on.
Fishing Box with Great Storage
If you're looking for the best fishing seat box storage system, the Inception 3D 150 really does not disappoint.
The 2 x front drawers run from "back to front" and have compartment walls to easily organise and arrange all your tackle.
The side drawer runs the entire width of the box, absolutely perfect for storing your hooks, floats, weights, feeders and any other terminal tackle you wish to have easy access to.
All drawers are kept in situ using strong magnets - no fumbling around trying to open clasps - perfect for those super cold icy days.
Lifting the pole seat up by unclipping the "Mag Lok" clips reveals a winder unit and offers a nice deep 150mm (15cm / 6") base unit - perfect for match and river anglers to store reels, ground bait and other bulkier fishing tackle.
To prove how much store the base really has, here is an image from the video review below.
Is it only suitable for Pole Fishing?
It's a common misconception that seat boxes are only for pole anglers - in fact one of my most luckiest knowledgeable person I knew was a gentleman called John - although he did pole fish from time to time, he was primarily a rod & reel kind of guy. He much preferred using a box over a chair as it gave him "quick access to his tackle" and "everything is one place".
The Inception 3D 150 padded seat is not only super comfortable, but also has Pole Butt Rest (often called a 'Pole Crook') in the front centre of the seat which can be used to take the load off your lower back when fishing out at distance.
Stability & Comfort
The Inception 3D 150 comes with 4 x 30mm front extendable / telescopic legs (1) which are perfect ensuring your box is level for even the steepest of fishing pegs. The fishing box also has 2x 30mm standard 50cm legs (2) at the rear of the box. Each leg is equipped with large mud feet to prevent the legs from sinking into the mud.
Mud feet at small plastic / metal discs usually round or octagonal in shape that make contact with the ground. Their increased surface area ensure that the legs of the seat box will not sink into the mud, hence the name "mud feet".
Preston Inception 3D 150 Footplate
Included with your seat box is the adjustable slide out metal footplate, with tight locking grips even for anglers who are still working on their "before weight loss" photo.
Yes! If you have no plans in using the cassette footplate it can be completely removed making it even lighter to carry using the padded shoulder strap.
To release the adjustable cassette bar footplate, unpin the small plunger pins and rotate to slide out your foot plate.
Cassette bar footplates are footplates that slide from under the seat box like a VHS/Cassette tape.
The footplate height can be adjusted to cater for tall or short anglers by using the thumb grips on the front 30mm legs to raise or lower.
Ideally your feet should be flat with knees at a right angle for better posture.
If you're fishing in a small peg (or canal / river fishing), you can leave the footplate underneath the box.

Final Verdict / Conclusion
A high quality sturdy fishing seat box that checks many requirements for casual and professional match anglers. The 3 drawers are a godsend for those of us who like to carry everything but the kitchen sink with a stylish design that's incredibly comfortable for long fishing sessions and matches.
A comment on YouTube even stated that weighing 17st, the Inception 3D 150 box remained solid without any leg slipping (or squeaking).
I feel the only negative point is the decision by Preston Innovations only supplied 4 x telescopic legs instead of 6 as seen on the Absolute Station seat box. Yes you can replace the 30mm round legs with telescopic versions, but in my opinion - but to me they should have been part of the package.
As mentioned in my other seat box reviews, I do check marketplaces for customers selling old boxes (a good indication of whether a seat box launched a few years ago is being replaced) and was surprised to not find any 2nd hand boxes for sale.
Do you own and use this seat box? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
