It's Friday and I dive into the land of fishing boxes again, and this week I appear to have stumbled across yet another hybrid chair/box combo from NYTRO. When I first saw the Impax Comfibox CB2 Seatbox I immediately thought of the Daiwa D-VEC seat box - in fact, I've spent the last 10 minutes trying to figure out what the differences are.

Who are NYTRO?

Nytro Fishing Website Screenshot

As reported by Angling International, NYTRO is a new brand launched in late 2022 from the team behind "Sonik Sports" who already sell Fishing Clothing, Carp Fishing Equipment, Sea Fishing tackle etc.

“Nytro is a new brand which has been designed by anglers for anglers, with the emphasis on delivering total consumer satisfaction. Whether that is on price, looks or performance, you can be confident a NYTRO product offers the best value money can buy.”

New for 2023

The NYTRO IMPAX COMFIBOX CB2 is brand new for 2023, and although there isn't too much information about the box, I will do my best to describe each of the listed features in detail based on the limited specifications available.

Manufacturers Specifications

  • Stable frame design
  • Black X36 aluminium legs
  • Flexible mud feet
  • Padded seat
  • Padded adjustable shoulder strap
  • Telescopic X36 legs

Ultra-Comfortable Padded Reclining Backrest

Fish in Comfort with the Nytro Branded Back Rest

The standout feature of the Nytro Impax Comfibox CB2 Seatbox is its padded reclining backrest. This supportive design is perfect for those longer sessions on the bank, ensuring you stay comfortable while waiting for that next big bite.

Many of you already know, I am a huge fan of comfort (must be my age), so any seatbox that can relieve lower back pain, is definitely a star in my books.

Spacious Storage with a 13cm Deep Base Compartment

Nytro Impax Comfibox CB2 Seatbox Review

The Impax Comfibox CB2 comes with a 13cm deep base compartment to store small pieces of tackle and gear.

The storage section can be opened from either the front or back, and secured into place using the replaceable (see below) catches.

💡
When comparing to the Daiwa D-VEC, the storage is a little less, however it's worth noting that smaller seatboxes like these are generally not designed to carry much in terms of reels / bait / kitchen sink.

Stable Frame Design and Adjustable X36 Aluminium Legs

Nytro Impax Comfibox CB2 Seatbox Review
36mm Round Legs make adding attachments a breeze!

Built to withstand the rigours of fishing, the Nytro Impax Comfibox CB2 features a stable frame design and black X36 aluminium legs. These legs provide a solid foundation for the seatbox, and their telescopic design allows for easy adjustments to suit your preferred height.

Like Daiwa's System 36 legs, the round 36mm legs on the CB2 will allow for accessories such as pole rests, feeder arms etc to attach without any adaptors or modifications.

Flexible Mud Feet for Uneven / Wet Pegs

Nytro Impax Comfibox CB2 Seatbox Review
Mud feet for those muddy horrible uneven sinking pegs

No matter the terrain, the Impax Comfibox CB2 has you covered with its flexible mud feet. These cleverly designed feet adapt to uneven surfaces, ensuring your seatbox remains stable even on the most challenging banks.

Padded Seat and Adjustable Shoulder Strap

Nytro Impax Comfibox CB2 Seatbox Review

As if the reclining backrest wasn't enough, the Nytro Impax Comfibox CB2 also boasts a padded seat for added comfort. Plus, the padded adjustable shoulder strap makes it a breeze to transport your seatbox to and from your favourite fishing spots.

Additional Spare Catches / Hinges

Nytro Impax Comfibox CB2 Seatbox Review
2 x Spare Seat box catches/hinges

Included in your seat box are 2 spare seat catches which can be replaced by using a standard Philips head screwdriver. As any seatbox owner knows, when a catch or hinge breaks, it's pretty much over for the seat box unless you're able to source a set of spares.

When checking the Nytro fishing website for this box, I found the text rather confusing as to what changes they specifically made to the catches:

We reversed the system to prevent the system from getting trapped between the seat and the frame

I really do like how Nytro have included spares - I am a huge fan of the "right to repair" movement that's been brewing - so this is another star for me.

How does it compare the Daiwa D-VEC Seat Box?

I'd be lying if I didn't feel that NYTRO have taken several aspects of the D-VEC (inspired maybe?) and just changed a few of the colours. The most obvious difference is the amount of storage each box offers with Daiwa offering a slightly deeper base.

If we set aside the colours and branding, I feel we are looking at pretty much identical boxes, however it's far too early to know what the longevity is like on the Impax Comfibox CB2 box.

Pricing

I'll be absolutely honest, I fully expected this box to be considerably cheaper when compared to the Daiwa D-VEC, and felt a little disappointed to see it was actually costing more than the "similar" Daiwa box. With that being said, below are the current prices March/April 2023.

💡
I do expect this box to tumble in price over the next few months and will revisit this page to update.
Retailer Price
Angling Direct £149.95
eBay £149.95
Very £154.99

Conclusion

Like the Daiwa D-VEC, the Nytro Impax Comfibox CB2 Seatbox looks to be a great seatbox/chair hybrid that offers good amounts of storage for those who want to fish fairly light.

The backrest is a welcome addition to any seat box, especially for anglers like myself who groan when they stand up after lengthy days at the commercial.

I also really do like how Nytro include a couple of spare catches in the package just in case one breaks or gets damaged whilst transporting your seatbox.

I will revisit this review in a few months.

It's that time of week again where I delve into the land of Fishing Box Seats and today I've got an absolute beauty. The Maver Signature Pro SXi 36 is the upgraded model of the Signature D36. The seat box oozes style, so much so that you could probably replace your dated sitting room chair with one of these.

Backed by Mavers 12 month warranty, the SXi 36 seat box is packed with features, storage, and a sliding cassette style foot tray to make your fishing experience second to none.

Adjustable Telescopic Legs

Like all modern match fishing boxes, the SXi 36 comes complete with 6 adjustable legs (only 4 of which are telescopic) to ensure setting up on an uneven peg is a doddle!

The Footplate although "can" technically be removed - Maver themselves have said it's not designed to be removed and re-attached.

How much storage does the Signature SXi 36 offer?

The Maver SXi 36 comes complete with 2 cassette storage systems (Top and Bottom) which can be used to store all your winders, feeders, hooks or any other pieces of terminal tackle.

How comfortable is the Seat Box?

Maver Signature Pro SXi 36 Seatbox Review

One thing that really struck me about this box is how amazingly comfy the box looks - and that's even before actually sitting on it. The seat cushion looks incredibly padded and is styled in a "carbon fibre" design with stunning embroidered detailing.

The seat itself has a central pole crook / hook which is perfect for those fishing straight out giving your back a lovely rest.

The cushion is made from "Anti-memory" cushion, which ensures the seat will not lose it's shape when sitting for long periods of time.

My Review of the Maver Signature Pro SXi 36

If I was in the market for a new box (is it Christmas yet?) this would definitely be on my list. I am a huge fan of stylish seat boxes and this really does check the boxes for me.

I am a little disappointed to only see 4 of the legs being telescopic, however as I mainly fish from commercials with good level pegs, this is not going to be an issue. If you're planning on moving more into the water, then I would suggest replacing the 2 non-telescopic legs with telescopic ones.

The storage of the box is something I absolutely love, the removable lower storage module and the metal shelf I can definitely see myself using.

Is the Pro version worth the extra money?

Absolutely. I think the deluxe seat and the bottom storage more than pay for themselves in the long run.

Let me know what you think about the box in the comments below.

It's not very often when I get a little bit stumped on what seat box to review next. As you've seen from my other fishing box seat reviews - I focus a lot on storage, however whilst browsing our friends over at Angling Direct, I stumbled across the RestaBox chair seat box from NuFish.

Who are NuFish?

NuFish are a UK based fishing tackle manufacturer founded in 1999 that offer a wide range of different pieces of Fishing Tackle, from Umbrellas to Feeders.

Is it a Chair?

NuFish RestaBox Review - The Most Compact Seat on the market?
RestaBox Logo

Technically speaking, yes, the NuFish Resta Box is indeed a chair, but it's also a box, lets call it a hybrid fishing box. The RestaBox seat sits on 4 x 550mm legs which can raised lowered using the adjustable thumbscrews to ensure your seating position level - even on sloped pegs.

The "hybrid" box also features a fold down removable back rest making it perfect for those of us who require additional back support when sitting at the bank.

Resta Box Storage

Unlike other match fishing boxes which come with more drawers than an Ikea catalogue, the Restabox seatbox features only a single "under seat storage compartment".

Lifting up the seat reveals a 50mm base storage space

Lift up the seat and hey presto - you have a 50mm deep compartment to store your smaller pieces of tackle such as hooks, rigs, feeders etc.

Who's the Resta Box Aimed at?

The Resta box is mainly aimed at Anglers that require a very lightweight seat box, at only 7kg - you could easily carry 3 or 4 Resta boxes to the bank without breaking a sweat.

I would mainly suggest this is a great box for mobile anglers who don't need excessive unneeded storage options.

NuFish RestaBox Review - The Most Compact Seat on the market?
Folds up neatly and can be caried using the attached carrying handle

The NuFish Restabox can be folded down to 21cm - and carried using the attached carrying handle (similar to that of a briefcase) to and from different pegs with ease with the need for a separate carrying strap.

Comfort

Raise your hand if you groan when you get up from the sofa 👋 - If you're anything like me, my back is not as good as it was when I was younger. Although I do love my fishing box, I really like the idea of having a back rest which my tomorrow self would be greatly thankful for.

The Restabox not only has a back rest, but if you take a look at the photo above you will notice how high the padded seat is ensuring you're able to fish whilst maintaining excellent posture - something that many seat box manufacturers forget.

NuFish RestaBox Accessories

NuFish RestaBox Review - The Most Compact Seat on the market?

The RestaBox doesn't come with any accessories, however the the 25mm round legs will ensure that accessories from NuFish and other manufacturers can be attached without any issues.

I've listed a few of the compatible accessories below from NuFish:

Where to buy the NuFish RestaBox

I did have a little trouble finding the NuFish Hybrid Chair / Seat Box at many of my usual retailers, however below are the best prices I've found.

Retailer Price Link
Angling Direct £149.99 Link
NuFish £174.99 Link
eBay £149.99 Link

Final thoughts...

Although the Restabox might not be for everybody, I do love how compact it folds down to, how easy it is to carry, and the fact that it has a fold down detachable back rest.

If you're looking for a seat box with a back rest, this might be the one for you - however I would first definitely check out the Daiwa D-Vec Seat Box or if you want some serious comfort the Inception 360 which both offer more storage (and features) at the cost of additional weight and a slightly higher price point.

In short, a perfect hybrid box chair for mobile Anglers.

Shoulder Strap

What are the main features of the H30 Lite MK2?

The MAP H30 Lite MK2 Seat Box is designed to be lightweight, durable, and versatile. It features a sturdy aluminium frame that can withstand the rigors of fishing, while also being easy to carry to your favourite fishing spot. The seat itself is padded for comfort, and has a height of 50cm.

  • 30mm diameter legs with telescopic inners and large swivel mud feet
  • Legs include threaded screw inserts for accessories
  • Lightweight aluminium frame for ease of transport

One of the standout features of this fishing seat box is its ample storage options. It includes a deep base unit for larger items, a shallow tray for smaller items, and a sliding cassette-style storage system that makes it easy to access your gear without having to rummage through everything.

The H30 box features 30mm adjustable legs that can be extended to provide stability on uneven terrain. The legs are made from lightweight aluminium, which helps to keep the overall weight of the seat box down. Additionally, the seat box has a built-in footplate for extra stability and support.

How much storage does the MAP H30 Lite MK2 have?

MAP H30 Lite MK2 Seat Box Review
Cassette Style Storage

The MAP H30 Lite MK2 Seat Box is designed to provide plenty of storage for all your fishing gear. The deep base unit measures 36 x 26 x 15cm, while the shallow tray measures 26 x 36 x 6cm. The sliding cassette-style storage system is also spacious, with room for everything from tackle boxes to spare reels and lines.

The Good, and the Bad

I've tried my fair share of fishing seat boxes over the years. However, the MAP H30 Lite MK2 Seat Box stands out for several reasons. Firstly, it's incredibly lightweight and easy to carry, which is important when you're traveling to different fishing pegs. Secondly, it has a wide range of storage options, which makes it easy to organize your gear and find what you need quickly. Finally, the adjustable legs and built-in footplate provide excellent stability, even on uneven ground.

However, there are a few things that I feel could be improved. Firstly, the seat itself could be a little more comfortable, especially if you're planning on spending long periods of time at the bank. Secondly, the sliding cassette-style storage system can be a little fiddly to use at times, which can be frustrating especially in cold weather.

Positive aspects

  • Built with a lightweight aluminium frame, making it easy to transport to and from your peg
  • The seat box features a deep base unit, shallow tray, and sliding cassette-style storage system for ample storage space.
  • Adjustable legs ensure a level experience even on sloped banks

Negative aspects

  • The seat itself may not be as comfortable for extended periods of fishing.
  • The sliding cassette-style storage system can be difficult to use for quick access to gear.
  • Not as much storage when compared to the H30 Comp model

Best Price for the MAP H30 Lite MK2 Seat Box

As many of you now know, I do love to shop around and find the best deals and prices. The cheapest price is from Angling Direct, closely followed by eBay (brand new). The prices are correct as of the 3rd March 2023.

My Final Verdict

Overall, the MAP H30 Lite MK2 Seat Box is an excellent choice for any angler who's looking for a reliable, versatile, and lightweight fishing seat box. While there are a few minor drawbacks, the benefits of this seat box far outweigh any negatives, especially for a seat box that comes under £400.

Having recently written a review of the Maver Reality R100, I decided I wanted to see what other Maver seatboxes were on the market.

Today I'm going to be reviewing the illusive Maver Reality EVO Seat box. What surprised me about this particular model (Maver L1220) is the lack of information around the web which made writing this article quite difficult - even Maver's own site had very limited specifications.

Quick Review

If you are looking for a seatbox that provides great value for money, the Maver Reality EVO Seatbox is definitely worth considering.

Maver Reality EVO Seatbox Review
Maver Website does not list the specifications

Luckily for me, one of my friends has recently picked one of these up from eBay and let me have a sit down and jot down some of the key features I feel would be helpful to anybody looking at purchasing this seat box.

Straight off the bat, the Reality EVO box comes in at a very affordable price of between £180 to £240 brand new, so if you're looking for a reliable and affordable seatbox that can store all your important fishing accessories - then look no further than the Maver Reality EVO Seatbox.

In this review, we will take a closer look at this excellent seatbox and its features that make it an ideal option for pole and rod anglers.

Sturdy Construction and Lightweight Box

Maver Reality EVO Seatbox Review
Sturdy 6 x 30mm Round Maver Legs

The Reality EVO Seatbox is constructed with six 30mm round legs, which provide excellent stability and durability. The legs also have anti-snag fittings, which prevent your line from getting caught when you are fishing. Despite its sturdy construction, this seat box is also lightweight, weighing only 10kgs, including the footplate.

Each leg has well sized mud feet making uneven wet pegs a non-existent problem.

💡
What are mud feet?

Mud feet at small plastic / metal discs usually round or octagonal in shape that make contact with the ground. Their increased surface area ensure that the legs of the seat box will not sink into the mud, hence the name "mud feet".

The light weight makes it easy to transport to and from your peg and especially useful when changing fishing spots. It also comes with a padded shoulder strap for those of us who have not yet invested in a box trolley.

Great Storage Space

Maver Reality EVO Seatbox Review
Deep front drawers provide quick access to terminal tackle when needed in a hurry

The Reality EVO Seatbox is designed with ample storage, making it a significant advantage for anglers. It features two front-facing draws, a 100mm deep base unit, and a 40mm deep storage tray beneath the seat. This allows you to keep all your necessary accessories close and organized. With this seatbox, you won't have to worry about leaving any essential fishing equipment behind.

Key Points:

  • 2 x Front Slide out Drawers
  • 100mm deep base unit (Reels / Bait Box Storage)
  • 40mm Storage tray (Terminal Tackle / Floats / Weight storage)

Comfortable Pole Seat

Maver Reality EVO Seatbox Review
Comfortable Pole Seat with Pole Crook - Perfect for resting the butt of the pole

The Reality EVO Seatbox comes with a pole seat, which is designed with a pole safety strap for added security. The seat is also padded, making it comfortable for extended periods of use. This feature is crucial for anglers who spend long hours fishing and require a comfortable seat to reduce fatigue.

Dimensions and Weight

Maver Reality EVO Seatbox Review

The box seat has a weight of 15kg and dimensions of 60cm x 50cm x 40cm. This makes it a compact and easy-to-carry option especially for smaller pegs and canals. You won't have to worry about carrying bulky or heavy equipment around, which can be a hassle when changing fishing spots.

Key Points

  • Weight: 15kg / 33lb
  • Dimensions: 60cm x 50cm x 40cm / 23.6" x 19.6" x 15.7"

Is the side tray included?

Maver Reality EVO Seatbox Review
Side Tray is NOT Included

One of the most confusing aspects of this box when shopping online is the stock pictures which do show a very large Maver side tray being attached. Please be warned that all online listings (websites / marketplaces) the side tray is not included.

What are the negative points about the Reality EVO Seat Box?

With the low price point we can't have everything, but one thing really did stand out when trying out this box... where are the adjustable telescopic legs?

That's right, unless I completely missed them - this seat box is only really suitable to fairly level pegs as the legs can't be extended.

Where can I buy the Maver Realty EVO Seatbox?

I really do enjoy surfing around to get different prices for this box, so here are the best prices I found as of the 23rd Feb 2022.

  • eBay - £185 (link) ⭐
  • Angling Direct - £239.99 (link) ⭐
  • FishingTackle2Go - £269.50 (link)
  • Total Fishing Tackle - £239.99 (link)

My MAVER Reality EVO Seat Box Review

The Maver Reality EVO Seatbox is an excellent option for anglers who want a reliable and affordable seatbox that can store all their important fishing accessories.

Not only is the Rality EVO lightweight, but offers a sturdy construction, ample storage space, and comfortable pole seat making it a great choice for Match and Hobbyist Anglers.

If you are looking for a seatbox that provides value for your money, the Maver Reality EVO Seatbox is definitely worth considering.

The pricing alone is something that makes me feel it's a great step up from the basic beginner boxes which with a brand like Maver - will last several years!

I hope you enjoyed my review of the Reality Evo box from Maver - as I said at the start of the article - information is very limited, so if you do notice something incorrect please let me know.

I appear to have gone down the rabbit hole for Matrix seat boxes and was absolutely blown away by the Matrix XR36 Pro. Not only does it look a mean box seat, but built on the huge success of the Matrix S36 I felt a review was in dire need.

The version of the XR36 I will be reviewing today is the Black and Lime Green Version, however it is also available in the "Shadow" colour as pictures below.

Design - Sleek and Beautiful

Matrix XR36 Pro Fishing Box Seat Review
Matrix XR36 Seat Box in Lime Green from the Front

The design of the Matrix XR36 seat box appears to be something from the future sent back in time to prevent a seat box revolution. The Lime and Black colours compliment the streamlined curves of the seat box. The unique hydro-formed aluminium frame similar to the Absolute Station adds style and elegance to your "end of the day catch" photos.

If we move away from how it looks, the added benefits of hydroformed aluminium seat boxes include:

  • Improved Durability
  • Reduced Weight

With the above in mind, I know that this seat box will survive even the roughest of weather conditions, whilst being light enough to carry to and from my peg.

One Hand Footplate Release

Matrix XR36 Pro Fishing Box Seat Review
1 Handed Slide out Footplate with Built-In Footplate Spirit Level

The single-handed Matrix footplate release mechanism is a great addition to this seatbox, making it easy to pull out and set up in a matter of seconds. The footplate is covered in a durable textured plastic covering providing you with the best grip even in rainy/wet conditions.

Included at the front of the footplate is it's own spirit level - making setting up much easier when compared to other boxes on the market.

For smaller pegs - the footplate can be completely removed - perfect for canal fishing.

6 x 36mm Adjustable Legs

Similar to System-36 Daiwa seat boxes, the Matrix XR36 features 6 x adjustable textured 36mm diameter round legs which have been finished in a "non-slip anodised" coating which can easily be securely tightened using the enlarged rubber over moulded hand wheels.

The bottom of each leg features individual rotating mud feet making wet muddy pegs no problem at all. For those that want to add additional rests / bars is easily achievable with each leg having a threaded cap.

Matrix XR36 Non Marking Leg Clamps

As noted by the official specifications, the Matrix XR36 features re-engineered non-marking leg clamps to ensure once tightened your seat box will remain at the correct level without any slipping - even when fully loaded with tackle.

The built-in spirit levels (1 in the seat, 1 on the footplate) make it really easy to set up - even on sloping banks without the need for a separate level taking up precious storage.

Is the Matrix XR36 comfortable?

The dual-colored ultra-hardwearing PU fabric covered seat cushion is a welcome addition to this seatbox. It's both comfortable and durable, ensuring that you'll be able to fish for hours without any discomfort - absolutely perfect for matches!

Matrix XR36 Pole Crook - Perfect for resting the butt of the pole

Built into the seat box is a heavy duty pole crook (for resting the butt of your pole) relieving lower back pain when fishing out at large distances.

The seat box is one of the widest boxes I've seen at 76cm width - perfect for us larger anglers.

Easy to Carry with the Padded Shoulder Strap

Padded Shoulder Strap to make carrying much easier (Photo is from the Graphite Edition)

The Matrix XR36 Pro Fishing Seatbox is easy and comfortable to carry, thanks to its lightweight design, weighing in at only 18.5kg. The removable padded shoulder strap is attached with a four-point fixing system that ensures it stays securely in place whilst being transported.

This makes it a breeze to carry your seatbox to your favourite commercial.

What's the storage like on the Matrix XR36 Pro Seat Box?

Matrix XR36 Pro Fishing Box Seat Review
Slide out Size Drawer with Colourcoded compartments

Looks aside, one thing I always look for in any fishing box seat is storage. The X36 comes with a single deep side drawer as standard with coloured compartments (Yellow / Blue / Black).

Lifting the lid unit up reveals a small shallow tray - great for winders, hooks and other terminal tackle.

At the bottom of the seat box is a tray stacker which can be used to store additional pole rigs depending on what type of venue you're going to be fishing at. Additional trays can be purchased from your favourite tackle shop.

My Verdict

The Matrix XR36 Pro Box Seat is an innovative box that any pole angler will appreciate. Its unique curved design and durable hydroformed construction make it a great investment for match and commercial anglers.

The ability to easily slide the footplate out using only 1 hand is a breath of fresh air - especially for those of us who have often struggled with dual release pins found on other seat boxes.

I am a little disappointed in the overall storage of the box - with limited room for reels and other larger pieces of tackle - this box is definitely more geared towards Pole fishing, however if you're just wanting a professional pole match fishing box - then this is the one for you.

Cheapest Price for the Matrix XR36 Pro

I've focussed far too much attention to main stream Daiwa / Preston seat boxes recently and decided I wanted to dedicate some time to "other brands". I came across the Matrix P25 Mark II (similar to Matrix F25) seat box whilst browsing the tackle over at Fishing Republic and thought I'd take a look to see what's on offer, if it's worth it, and what my thoughts were for the black and yellow fishing seat box.

The black and lime green box seat is incredibly distinctive, with the non coated legs really makes this seat box stand out from the crowd.

Locking Mechanism of the Slide out Non-Scratch Footplate

Matrix P25 Specification (MKII)

  • Lightweight aluminium H-frame
  • Padded seat with integrated spirit level
  • Matrix drawer units
  • 1 x front drawer unit
  • 1 x shallow tray unit
  • 6 x telescopic round legs (25mm)
  • Swivelling mud feet - for grip on uneven ground
  • Non-scratch sliding footplate with locking mechanism
  • Threaded leg caps (inserts)
  • Snag-free fitting throughout - effortless functionality
  • Removable padded shoulder strap - for easy transportation
  • Contrasting lime green frame and black footplate
  • Colour: Black/Green

How much does Matrix P25 Seatbox weigh?

Matrix P25 - Mk2 Fishing Box Seat Review
Weighing only 13.5kg - the Matrix P25 MKII is easy to carry

Coming in at 13.5kg (29.7lb) the "lightweight" aluminium H-Frame is around the same weight at as other box seats I've recently reviewed (Inception 3D - 15.4kg), if anything it's a little lighter!

The Matrix P25 comes complete with a removable padded strap making transportation of your box seat a breeze which can then be packed away.

Padded Seat and Ease of Setup

The padded seat with an integrated spirit level is a key feature of the Matrix P25 Seat Box Mk2 and is a valuable addition for anglers. A comfortable seat is essential for anglers to ensure they do not suffer from lower back pain from prolonged staring at the float (it's a proven fact that staring harder at a float will indeed encourage fish to bite - side note: this may not be a fact, but I practise it every week)

Located at the front of the padded seat is a pole butt rest (Pole Crook) which once seated inside will alleviate muscle strain / lower back pain if you're fishing several meters out into your swim.

Like most other box seats, the P25 has a built in/integrated spirit level ensuring your box seat is perfectly level without requiring a separate spirit level.

A box seat that is not level will cause long term lower back discomfort and delay reaction times due to muscle fatigue.

Matrix P25 Storage Drawers

Matrix P25 - Mk2 Fishing Box Seat Review
P25 MKII Removable Cushioned Seat

Unlike other seat boxes with hinges, you are able to fully remove the padded seat by unclipping the top section of box seat which reveals a shallow winder tray with more than enough room to store small, medium or even wide pole rigs.

Located on the front of the box are 2 smaller drawer units (with dividers) to store your smaller items such as hooks, weights, feeders or even mobile phone.

Unclipping the front Matrix catches reveals another shallow tray for more storage - maybe a copy of the latest Angling Times, Pole Winders or smaller terminal tackle.

🗨️
Additional drawers from Matrix can be added to this box if you're ever in need for more storage.

What legs are on the Matrix P25 Fishing Box?

I was pleasantly surprised that the P25-MKII has 6 (yes six) adjustable/telescopic legs to ensure your box seat can be set perfectly level quite unlike the Preston Inception 3D 150 (review) where only the front 4 were telescopic.

The width of the legs is a little less than what we're used to coming in at only 25mm - meaning you won't be able to use attachments from other manufacturers 30mm / 35mm, each with mud feet and a threaded top (thread caps) to attach your other bits and bobs (rod rests / feeder arms etc).

Perfect for sloping banks or muddy pegs!

💡
What are mud feet?

Mud feet at small plastic / metal discs usually round or octagonal in shape that make contact with the ground. Their increased surface area ensure that the legs of the seat box will not sink into the mud, hence the name "mud feet".
Matrix P25 - Mk2 Fishing Box Seat Review
Matrix P25 MKII Thumb Screws

Branded Plastic leg screws are easy accessible to tighten or loosen the seat box at the desired height.

Matrix Cassette Style Footplate

Matrix P25 - Mk2 Fishing Box Seat Review
Matrix P25 MKII Non-Scratch Sliding Footplate

Included in the package is the cassette style "non - scratch" sliding footplate (remains under the box when carrying) which is strong and stable yet lightweight. Once the 2 thumbscrews are locked into place the footplate remains solid for the whole duration of your fishing day.

Best Prices for the Matrix P25 MKII Seat Box

Part of my reviews I do quite enjoy looking round different online tackle shops for the price ranges. The RRP for the P25 is £349.

The prices below are correct as of the 13th February 2022.

  • Todber Manor - £234.49 (link)
  • Angling Direct - £249.99 (link)
  • eBay - £249.99 (link)
  • Fish Deal - £255.95 (link)

My Verdict

The Matrix P25 MKII Box Seat is a cracking little seat that offers more than enough storage for the average angler. When comparing to seat boxes in a similar price range - it's obvious why so many anglers choose Matrix over other brands.

Could the P25 have more storage - well yes (you can never have enough storage), but at less than £250 (prices correct as of 13th Feb 2022) for a brand new full kitty seat box with footplate - I would be hard pushed not to recommend anything else.

After the huge success of the Inception SL30, Preston Innovations took to heart comments made by the fishing community to lunch the new and improved Inception 3D 150 fishing seat box.

The lightweight and spacious fishing seat box designed with Coarse Fishing in mind might be the perfect choice for your next battle station - especially if you're looking for a fishing seat box with exceptional storage - read on.

Fishing Box with Great Storage

3 Drawer Fishing Seat Box - 2 x Front Drawers & 1 Side Drawer

If you're looking for the best fishing seat box storage system, the Inception 3D 150 really does not disappoint.

The 2 x front drawers run from "back to front" and have compartment walls to easily organise and arrange all your tackle.

The side drawer runs the entire width of the box, absolutely perfect for storing your hooks, floats, weights, feeders and any other terminal tackle you wish to have easy access to.

All drawers are kept in situ using strong magnets - no fumbling around trying to open clasps - perfect for those super cold icy days.

Is it only suitable for Pole Fishing?

It's a common misconception that seat boxes are only for pole anglers - in fact one of my most luckiest knowledgeable person I knew was a gentleman called John - although he did pole fish from time to time, he was primarily a rod & reel kind of guy. He much preferred using a box over a chair as it gave him "quick access to his tackle" and "everything is one place".

Padded seat with "Pole Crook"

The Inception 3D 150 padded seat is not only super comfortable, but also has Pole Butt Rest (often called a 'Pole Crook') in the front centre of the seat which can be used to take the load off your lower back when fishing out at distance.

Stability & Comfort

4 x Adjustable Telescopic Front Legs and 2 x 50cm Rear Legs

The Inception 3D 150 comes with 4 x 30mm front extendable / telescopic legs (1) which are perfect ensuring your box is level for even the steepest of fishing pegs. The fishing box also has 2x 30mm standard 50cm legs (2) at the rear of the box. Each leg is equipped with large mud feet to prevent the legs from sinking into the mud.

Included with your seat box is the adjustable slide out metal footplate, with tight locking grips even for anglers who are still working on their "before weight loss" photo.

👍
Can the footplate be completely removed / detached?
Yes! If you have no plans in using the cassette footplate it can be completely removed making it even lighter to carry using the padded shoulder strap.
Preston Innovations Inception 3D 150 Seatbox Review
Footplate pins located at the bottom of the fishing box

To release the adjustable cassette bar footplate, unpin the small plunger pins and rotate to slide out your foot plate.

🤔
What is a Cassette bar footplate?

Cassette bar footplates are footplates that slide from under the seat box like a VHS/Cassette tape.

The footplate height can be adjusted to cater for tall or short anglers by using the thumb grips on the front 30mm legs to raise or lower.

Ideally your feet should be flat with knees at a right angle for better posture.

If you're fishing in a small peg (or canal / river fishing), you can leave the footplate underneath the box.

Watch the video uploaded by Preston Innovations in 2020 for the Inception 3D 150 fishing seat box.

Final Verdict / Conclusion

A high quality sturdy fishing seat box that checks many requirements for casual and professional match anglers. The 3 drawers are a godsend for those of us who like to carry everything but the kitchen sink with a stylish design that's incredibly comfortable for long fishing sessions and matches.

A comment on YouTube even stated that weighing 17st, the Inception 3D 150 box remained solid without any leg slipping (or squeaking).

I feel the only negative point is the decision by Preston Innovations only supplied 4 x telescopic legs instead of 6 as seen on the Absolute Station seat box. Yes you can replace the 30mm round legs with telescopic versions, but in my opinion - but to me they should have been part of the package.

As mentioned in my other seat box reviews, I do check marketplaces for customers selling old boxes (a good indication of whether a seat box launched a few years ago is being replaced) and was surprised to not find any 2nd hand boxes for sale.

Do you own and use this seat box? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

<![CDATA[Daiwa D-VEC Fishing Seat box Review]]>https://fishingseatboxes.co.uk/daiwa/daiwa-dvec-fishing-seat-box-review/63e4ed95fbbb1a0ba61e7d53Thu, 09 Feb 2023 15:12:51 GMT

I first stumbled across the Daiwa D-VEC fishing box whilst writing an article about the best fishing boxes under £150 (here) and wanted to do a bit more research before putting together a D-VEC Seat Box Review for Fishing Seat Boxes.

Is the D-VEC a fishing chair?

The first thing you notice about the seat box is that it's quite small, mobile and "chair like". I can hear already here the chuckles from long term anglers for "not being a real pole fisherman" and choosing a seat box with a padded back rest.

One thing I always stress when spending long periods next to the water is to take regular walks. Not only does it get the blood pumping (source), but it gives me an excuse to have a cheeky vape without sending plumes of vapour down to the next swim upsetting other anglers.

There is a reason why office chairs have back rests....

Having spent my early years fishing on an old wicker seat box, I remember the back pain I experienced just from a few hours fishing after school - maybe Daiwa are on to something by adding a small but subtle back rest?

The answer is yes they are, unlike normal fishing chairs, the back rest still allows pole anglers to manoeuvre their pole over their shoulders whilst providing much needed lower back support.

Small and Compact for Tight Swims

Moving on from the back rest, I want to next focus on how compact the D-VEC really is. Measuring 60cm x 50cm x 40cm the aluminium seat box will quite happily fit into any small shed, the boot of a hatchback or even snuck away in your living without your partner noticing.

Unlike the more "beefier" seat boxes from Daiwa, the DVEC comes in at a very low 6kg (13.2lb) making it light enough to transport to and from your fishing peg without the need for a fishing trolley. This is obviously the weight before you load it full of tackle.

A padded detachable padded shoulder strap is included which clips (and unclips) from the fishing seat box.

Setting up the D-VEC Box Seat

Daiwa D-VEC Fishing Seat box Review
50cm System 36 Daiwa Legs with mud feet

Setting up the Daiwa D-VEC is a breeze, not only is it lightweight for easy positioning, but comes complete with 4 x 50cm Daiwa round SYSTEM-36 36mm legs. Each leg can be tightened using the easy to grab thumb screws, and is perfect for muddy ground due to the circular tilting "mud feet" (great for sloped banks).

💡
What are mud feet?

Mud feet at small plastic / metal discs usually round or octagonal in shape that make contact with the ground. Their increased surface area ensure that the legs of the seat box will not sink into the mud, hence the name "mud feet".

To ensure your seat box is level use the built in spirit level located on the back rear of the box.

Unlike other Daiwa Fishing boxes, the thumbscrews are a fixed position - NOT the 180° as seen on other models (D90 / Tournament 800)

What's the storage like on the Daiwa D-VEC Box?

Daiwa D-VEC Fishing Seat box Review
Lifting the Seat reveals storage for small terminal tackle, maybe the odd reel

Lifting up the DVEC box reveals a fairly shallow 40cm x 28cm x 10cm storage compartment which can interestingly be opened from either the front or back for easy access to other tackle, rigs or spare reel.

The storage options pretty much end there, however as the D-VEC seat box is aimed primarily at mobile anglers, I don't think there is really more that you should require.

One of the positive aspects of small storage area means you have quite a large clearance underneath the seat granting the angler to sit in shallow water.

Daiwa D-VEC Manufacturer Specifications

  • Release Date: 2021
  • Mobile, easy carry seat box – 6kg
  • Shallow base – 40cm x 28cm x 10cm
  • Ultra-secure and adjustable 36mm/50cm legs
  • Tilting mud feet
  • Padded seat and fold down back rest
  • Front and rear opening
  • Padded shoulder strap (removable)
  • Spirit level for even set up

What's the best price for the Daiwa D-VEC Box Seat?

Upon launch, the RRP for this seat box is £149.99, however as we all know by now, many online tackle retailers will often come in lower. The following prices (Correct as of the 10th Feb 2022) are the best I've found.

  • eBay - £124.99 (link) (Updated 15/02/23) ⭐
  • Angling Direct - £134.99 - link (Updated 15/02/23) ⭐
  • Banks & Burr - 129.99 - link
  • Fishing Tackle and Bait - £134.99 - link
  • Fishing Tackle 2 Go - £144.50 - link

If you've found a better deal, or the prices above are no longer correct, please get in contact with me.

The Negatives

There's not really many negatives that I can list, but I did notice 1 negative review whilst collating the best prices:

  • Thumb Screws not tightening

A review left on a tackle site mentioned that the thumbscrews needed "really tightening whilst wearing gloves" to stop the box from sliding down the legs. Having only seen 1 review like this, I would prefer to assume either the thumbscrew is faulty, or some dirt/oil made its way onto the leg making it super slippery.

  • Storage area Water Seal - or lack of

The box is pitched at mobile anglers who will inevitably be carrying their box whilst it's raining. Although a great excuse to spend more of your wages on new tackle, proactively protecting your small tackle from the elements I feel wouldn't go a miss.

My Verdict

I'm not much of a mobile angler myself, and I'm rather lucky that my local commercials have car parking either very close or directly behind the pegs making transportation not really an issue. However, I really do like that manufacturers are opting to add back rests to their fishing boxes - your future self will thank you.

The System 36 fishing legs ensure that any Daiwa seat box accessories that are suitable for SYSTEM-36 are completely compatible.

If you're into walking round wild ponds, or even want a low profile pole fishing box for canals, this is definitely worth a look - especially from a trusted brand like Daiwa.

Officially released in May 2021, the Daiwa 90 Seat box is very stylish piece of fishing tackle that any angler would love to have as their main battle station. Like 99% other fishing seat boxes the Daiwa 90 is predominantly black in colour with a small red trim just below the padded seat.

The Daiwa 90 Seat box is no lightweight fishing seat box weighing in at 16.7kg (36.8lb) and for those of us who eat Weetabix every morning can be carried with the detachable padded shoulder strap. If you don't fancy carrying the box over your shoulder, it might be worth investing in a tackle trolley especially if you're unable to park close to your peg.

D90's Padded Seat and Shoulder Strap

The padded seat no only adds a high level of comfort, but also features a heavy duty pole seat recess which is perfect for pole anglers allowing them to easily rest the butt of their pole in - preventing lower back pain when fishing for long periods of time with a lengthy pole.

The D90 seat box comfortably rests on 6 black telescopic "SYSTEM 36" 36mm round diameter legs, each with the 180 degrees rotating locking handwheels to prevent awkward snags whilst you're pulling in that monster barbel. Each telescopic leg also comes complete with 6x Mud Feet to ensure your box can provide enough stability even in the wettest of commercial pegs - and perfect for sloping banks.

The D90 also includes 2 spirit levels located on the side and front of the seat box ensuring you're completely level when fishing.

What are SYSTEM 36 Legs?

System 36 simply means the leg diameter is 36cmm and are proven to be the strongest and sturdiest fishing legs for Daiwa seat boxes. System 36 is a Daiwa only feature.

Like the majority of Daiwa's seat box range, each 36mm leg has a top screw thread which allows adding attachments such as butt rests, rod rests or even leg extensions (if you're venturing out into your swim).

Build Quality & Usability

The Daiwa D90 seat box, made of Aluminium and Steel is a solid well made piece of kid that boasts a sleek "compact looking" design. The detachable footplate is ideal for compact fishing pegs or canal fishing.

Once tightened, the D90's fully 180° handwheels provide more than enough grip to provide ample support, as demonstrated in a video review by Mark from Angling Times (seen below).

Daiwa 90 (D90) Seat Box Review
Daiwa 180° handwheels provide ample support even for larger anglers

For taller anglers, the seat box can be adjusted to a comfortable height and fixed into position without the need to stack additional layers - something that's been missing from many premium seat boxes.

Top Tip for Faster Set up!

When setting up your seat box for the first time, mark the height position of the seat on the legs (tape / permanent marker / float paint). This will speed up your setup time the next time you're fishing.

The D90 seatbox stack system is fully interchangeable with easy click layers featuring a compression seal to ensure your tackle remains dry, especially on those wet and windy days (we've all been there - whichever direction you're facing the wind is ALWAYS in your face!)

How much tackle storage does the Daiwa 90 offer?

Daiwa 90 (D90) Seat Box Review

Similar to the Daiwa Tournament 800, the 20mm shallow winder tray features perforations to allow for air flow, which facilitates the drying of your tackle if moisture from rain or cold winter mornings enters the tray.

Slide out Drawers with dividers for easy tackle storage

The Daiwa D90 modular seat box also comes complete with two shallow side drawers with dividers that can be adjusted to store the majority of your smaller fishing knick-knacks (hooks, disgorger and other small pieces of terminal tackle).

The deep removable and modular 14cm (140mm / 5.5") base provides more than enough storage to keep your fishing reels, spare rigs, extra line spools. If there has ever been an excuse to splash out on a "backup" reel, this will be it.

If you've not already watched the video review by Mark, I suggest you pull up a chair with a nice cuppa.

My Review of the Daiwa D90 Seat Box

Although released in 2021, a great indication of whether a seat box really lives up to the expected hype is to check 2nd hand marketplaces such as Gumtree, eBay for old unwanted boxes. The lack of listings for 2nd hand D90 seat boxes is a clear indication that once purchased anglers are sticking to their beloved fishing station.

The design and stability is fantastic, however my only gripe is the weight. I can't help but feel that other boxes with similar features are made from lighter materials making them much easier to carry.

If you're not going to be carrying your D90 far - or plan on transporting your gear with a trolley, I think the price to feature ratio is fantastic and is definitely something for pole anglers to snap up.

Best price for the Daiwa D90 Seat Box

The pricing of the Daiwa 90 Seat box seems to be hovering around the £330 - £400 which is incredibly cheap when compared to the RRP of £495 (source)

Below are the best prices I've found for this seat box (correct as of 9th February 2023):

I've covered seat boxes from the Daiwa range in the past and unlike the other reviews, I decided to focus on a professional seat box (Tournament 800) more suited to Anglers who "know what they want" - rather than a beginners seat box.

I am not saying as a beginner you should buy cheaper boxes, but as somebody who likes to watch the pennies, I feel you should buy cheaper items first, find what features you like then upgrade once you know what you like & use.

The Red & Black Tournament 800 system 36 Fishing Box from Daiwa comes complete with 6 telescopic legs which can be completely adjusted using the built in spirit level to ensure a level box on less than favourable fishing pegs.

Sliding Retractable Moulded Footplate

Tournament 800 Retractable Footplate

The Tournament 800 has a retractable footplate/platform - ideal for when storing or carrying your box seat. The footplate is secured with screws either side which can then be tightened at the desired length. The large moulded footplate provides more than enough room to fish comfortably and can be washed down using a hose and washing up liquid.

Locking Handwheel

Each 36mm (compatible with System 36 D-Tach attachments/accessories) round leg has the new 180° locking handwheel which means you can tighten (or loosen) the locking grip from either side as not to obstruct any accessories / equipment.

The top cover of each leg can be unscrewed to fit additional accessories (butt rest for feeder fishing / pole stop etc) or to add leg extensions if you plan on getting into slightly deeper water or your sitting in a very uneven peg.

Lightweight & Sturdy

Constructed out of Aluminium and Steel ensures the seat box from Daiwa remains sturdy, whilst still being transportable to and from your peg with the attached padded shoulder strap. Unfortunately Daiwa have not provided an overall weight for this item, but I've reached out to them and will update once they respond).

The two shallow side drawers/trays provide additional storage space perfect for storing rigs, weights and other small terminal tackle (plummets, disgorgers etc) that you might need in a hurry. Each tray has adjustable dividers allowing you organize your additional easily.

Lift out Winder Trays with Seals

The Tournament box comes complete with 3 winder trays.

  1. For Wide Winders (Wider Floats - 14 blanks included)
  2. Long Winders (Longer Floats - 20 blanks included)
  3. Short Winders (Short Floats - 30 blanks included)

Each tray has the new "compression seal" to keep all your rigs / winders perfectly dry on rainy days. Its inevitable that during wetter days your rigs will become slightly wet - the base/lid is 'Perforated' to allow air flow to help dry everything out.

Comfortable

The two-tone (Red/Black) pole seat allows the pole to rest "in" the front of the seat – perfect for those who enjoy fishing with their poles between their legs. The padded seat provides long term comfort (especially when compared to cheaper fishing tackle boxes).

<![CDATA[Inception 360 Fishing Seat box Review from Preston Innovations]]>https://fishingseatboxes.co.uk/preston-innovations/inception-360-fishing-seatbox-from-preston-innovations/63da481cc4a53d9150e92809Wed, 01 Feb 2023 12:18:45 GMT

Today I'm looking at the fishing seatbox that appears to check all the right boxes for somebody like myself with lower back pain. Personally, I love to rotate my fishing game, sometimes in the margins, sometimes straight ahead. The swivel seat on the Inception 360 caught my attention whilst perusing tackle websites earlier this year.

The Inception 360 fishing "seatbox" from Preston Innovations is the latest addition to the successful Inception SL30 Seatbox line. It features a 100mm deep base unit and a fairly deep side draw for storing all of your terminal tackle (weights, hooks, rigs etc), but with an added 360-degree rotating seat to allow you (the angler) to spin on your chair whilst nobody is watching (or maybe to fish the margins easier - whichever you prefer)

Inception 360 Fishing Seat box Review from Preston Innovations
Preston Innovations "Inception 360" Fishing Seat Box with Swivel Chair

The Inception 360 fishing box is equipped with new revolutionary MAG-LOK® clips that keep the everything securely in place, but can be easily opened for access to the base compartment for storing all your "nik-naks", tackle, mobile phone or corned beef sandwiches. The footplate is locked in place with two plungers on each side, ensuring it stays in the perfect position at the bank or even when not in use.

The 360 seat unit can also be purchased separately and used with any Inception or Absolute seat box. The complete set includes the 360 seat unit, deep side drawer unit, 100mm container base unit, two 30mm telescopic seatbox legs (45cm and 50cm), two 30mm standard seatbox legs (45cm), a cassette bar, footplate, and a deluxe padded shoulder strap to make carrying an absolute breeze!

Specifications

The Inception 360 is absolutely packed with features suitable for anglers new and old (less of the old). I have broken down each of the features below.

Weight

The total weight of the complete set is 16.5kg / 36.3lb making it a very portable seat box suitable for carrying (using the supplied padded shoulder strap) to and from your peg.

360 Seat Unit

Inception 360 Fishing Seat box Review from Preston Innovations
360° Swivel Seat

This is the rotating seat on top of the fishing seat box that allows anglers to have comfort and convenience while fishing in the margins. The 360 degree rotation provides easy access to all angles and allows anglers to change positions easily. The back rest is definitely a welcome feature - which I wish more fishing seat manufacturers would add to their seat boxes.

Deep Side Drawer Unit

This is a deep compartmented unit that provides additional storage space for anglers to keep their fishing gear organized. It helps to keep everything in one place and easily accessible.

100mm Container Base Unit

Inception 360 Fishing Seat box Review from Preston Innovations
Inception 360 Base Unit for storage

This is the base of the fishing seat box that provides the foundation for the seat and side drawer unit. It is 100mm deep, which provides ample space to store fishing gear and keep it organized.

2 x 30mm Telescopic Seatbox Legs 45cm and 50cm

These are the legs that support and ensure the fishing seat box remains level. To help protect your back, sitting on a perfect horizontal angle will not only benefit your fishing style - but will help your posture as you shoot dirty looks at the bloke 2 pegs down pulling bream out every 10 minutes.

Once your seat box is "level", tighten the rubber coated thumb grips for a secure and "level" fishing experience.

It's also worth noting, that due to the 360° swivel seat - if your box is even slightly at an angle - the seat will naturally rotate putting more pressure on your lower back causing some long term discomfort (source).

The legs are adjustable, allowing anglers to set the height of the seat box to their preference. There are two telescopic legs in each set, each with a different length (45cm and 50cm), to accommodate different fishing environments.

2 x 30mm Standard Seatbox Legs 45cm

These are additional legs that can be used to provide extra support for the fishing seat box. Each circular leg is 30mm (3cm) in diameter allowing accessories like pole rests / trays to be attached with ease.

Cassette bar & Footplate

Inception 360 Fishing Seat box Review from Preston Innovations
Inception 360 Footplate

The cassette bar is a sturdy bar that is used to secure the legs in place, ensuring that the fishing seat box remains stable and level. The footplate is attached to the front 2 legs and is secured into position using the rubber coated thumb grips.

Deluxe Padded Shoulder Strap

This is a padded shoulder strap that is designed for comfort and convenience when carrying the fishing seat box. The heavy duty padding which is not very evident on cheaper seat boxes ensures complete comfort (depending on how much tackle you pack) whilst moving to or between pegs.

Conclusion

Yes for many professional anglers the sheer thought of a fishing seat instead of a box sends shivers through their spines and causes intense ripples through space and time - but hear me out on this.

For somebody who spends most of their day sat in an office, comfort is something I look for when deciding on purchasing anything new that I will spend a lot of time using. You need to choose a product that matches your style of fishing, and for me this seat box matches mine.

I am lucky enough to not only pole fish, but engoy the waggler with a rod and reel - this seat box is perfect for me and my needs. The back rest gives me more than enough room to push my pole back over the rollers whilst allowing me "sit back" to save my lower back from eternal doom.

Best Price

I've noticed only a few retailers have this in stock with prices ranging from £389.99 to £319.99 depending on delivery times. My local Angling supplies shop were able to get this within 7 days direct from Preston Innovations complete with all the accessories listed above.

I knew it wouldn't be long before we started to see some wild curvaceous fishing seat boxes hitting the market, and after seeing the latest offering from Preston Innovations, I was left needing a corned beef key to wind my tongue back into my mouth after my eyes feasted on the Absolute Station.

Absolute Station review from Preston Innovations Fishing Seat Box
If Mclaren made Fishing Seat boxes, this would be it

The incredibly stylish "Absolute Station" from Preston Innovations had my attention like a 35lb carp being pulled in by a first time fisherman (we've all been there). The black and grey aluminium frame with the noticeable "X" design beneath the drawers screams at my wallet to "buy it now".

Complete with black footrest, the 6 individual telescopic legs on the Absolute Station can be set easily adjusted using the removable rubber coated ergonomically designed screw caps ensuring you're battle station remains level; even on the most difficult of fishing pegs.

Material / Build Quality

The Preston Innovations Absolute fishing box is manufactured from 'lightweight' aluminium including the use of hydroforming. For those who didn't google "Hydroforming" the simple short definition from 'Science Direct' (source):

Hydroforming is a metal forming technology based on the application of pressurized liquid media to generate defined workpiece shapes from tubular materials or sheet metals.

This basically means that Preston Innovations has been able to produce an absolutely stunning sleek, sturdy, lightweight, voluptuous seat box which your partner may catch you sneaking a look at out of the corner of your eye during a walk round the lake.

Absolute Station Lift Up Lid with pole rest

The cushioned seat is the perfect parking place for your backside with a lift up lid revealing a 26mm tray for quick access to hooks / weights / rigs.

Special Features

The Absolute Station is compatible with "Mag Lok" attachments, so if you're upgrading from a previous model your existing trays and accessories will attach with no problems whatsoever, especially useful for different fishing setup scenarios such as wading etc.

Absolute Station review from Preston Innovations Fishing Seat Box
Preston 'Mag Lok' for quick & easy attaching / detaching

If you're anything like me, my fishing gear is always an absolute mess after a full 8 hours at the bank, so having the ability to remove units from the hydroformed aluminium frame for easier management and in my case 'cleaning'.

This also gives the excited angler the opportunity to bring trays into the kitchen to fully prepare your terminal tackle without the need to bring the entire seat box inside (let's be honest, a box this nice - it should take pride of place in your home).

It's also worth noting that you can re-attach units in any order you feel fits your fishing style / requirements.

What's Included?

The Absolute Station seat box includes all you would expect from a premium fishing seat box:

  • 6 x Telescopic legs featuring removable screw caps (photo below ⬇️)
  • Absolute Seat box cover
  • Comfortable hard-wearing seat
  • Deluxe Padded Shoulder strap - perfect for long walks on the beach
  • Inter-Lok winder tray compatible
  • Mag-Lok Stacker Plate
  • Mag-Lok compatible
  • Non marking clamping knuckle
  • Secure footplate locking system
  • 26mm shallow tray with lid
  • 2 x Deep side drawers
  • Shallow side drawer

Colour Options

Today my 'fishing box enthusiasts' I'm going to talk about the entry level fishing seat box from Koala. I am an advocate for ensuring beginner anglers get unbiased buying advice - especially for those on a budget.

Koala Beginner Fishing Seat Box - Blue

Entry Level Beginner Seat box from Koala - Blue

Luckily for me, I have never (that I know off) been mis-sold or "ripped off" by an Angling Shop in the UK, however - I am sure there are those out there that will try and make new fishermen / fisherwomen spend more money on tackle & equipment than they really need to.

The Koala entry level blue fishing box is as basic as they come, but unlike the Diawa & Shakespeare seat boxes it addresses some issues that I raised - and I am pleasantly pleased.

Beginner Box Blues

What I found really quite striking about the "lightweight" Koala fishing box was it's colour. Predominantly seat boxes are black, black and red, black and blue, green, green and black...so to see a BLUE seat box made me initially think this was a facebook ad for a converted milk bottle box.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with a blue box - if anything it makes your box stand out from the crowd whilst still delivering on it's main feature "a product to lug around your tackle and plonk your bum!"

Fishing box under £60 - is it any good?

Fishing boxes under £60 will generally not have as many features when compared to a 5 drawer match seat box with adjustable legs, LED lighting, portable GPS and a spare arm to rest your portable television. However, the heavy duty plastic Koala seat box does offer some surprises when compared to boxes in a similar price range.

Padded Seat Cushion

Entry Level Beginner Seat box from Koala - Blue
Padded Seat Cushion

Having spent countless hours sitting on a wicker fishing basket as a child, I appreciate anything that softens the hard exterior of the plastic box. Many of the beginner seat boxes often really skimp on the item you use the most - so I was quite surprised by the thickness padded seat cushion.

Padded Shoulder Strap

Entry Level Beginner Seat box from Koala - Blue
Padded Shoulder Strap

Depending on your fishing location, a shoulder strap with padding is an absolute must if you need to walk more than 30 seconds to your fishing peg. If you've read my other beginner seat box reviews, I suggest purchasing some seatbelt pads to ease the pain - with this box you don't need to!

Included Side Tray

Entry Level Beginner Seat box from Koala - Blue
Included Side Tray Accessory

It boggles my mind how often cheap seat boxes never include such as basic necessity. Included in the box is a detachable bait box which can be attached at the front, side or rear of the box.

Dimensions / Size / Weight

Entry Level Beginner Seat box from Koala - Blue
Koala Beginner Box Dimensions

The size is fairly standard for seat boxes with plenty of room inside to store all your reels, bait, rigs and flask for those wintery days at the bank. Weighing in at only 2.8kg (6.1lb)

  • Width: 55cm
  • Depth: 38cm
  • Height (including seat cushion) 42cm
  • Internal depth: 34cm
  • Weight 2.8kg
