Entry Level Beginner Seat box from Koala - Blue
Today my 'fishing box enthusiasts' I'm going to talk about the entry level fishing seat box from Koala. I am an advocate for ensuring beginner anglers get unbiased buying advice - especially for those on a budget.
Luckily for me, I have never (that I know off) been mis-sold or "ripped off" by an Angling Shop in the UK, however - I am sure there are those out there that will try and make new fishermen / fisherwomen spend more money on tackle & equipment than they really need to.
The Koala entry level blue fishing box is as basic as they come, but unlike the Diawa & Shakespeare seat boxes it addresses some issues that I raised - and I am pleasantly pleased.
Beginner Box Blues
What I found really quite striking about the "lightweight" Koala fishing box was it's colour. Predominantly seat boxes are black, black and red, black and blue, green, green and black...so to see a BLUE seat box made me initially think this was a facebook ad for a converted milk bottle box.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with a blue box - if anything it makes your box stand out from the crowd whilst still delivering on it's main feature "a product to lug around your tackle and plonk your bum!"
Fishing box under £60 - is it any good?
Fishing boxes under £60 will generally not have as many features when compared to a 5 drawer match seat box with adjustable legs, LED lighting, portable GPS and a spare arm to rest your portable television. However, the heavy duty plastic Koala seat box does offer some surprises when compared to boxes in a similar price range.
Padded Seat Cushion
Having spent countless hours sitting on a wicker fishing basket as a child, I appreciate anything that softens the hard exterior of the plastic box. Many of the beginner seat boxes often really skimp on the item you use the most - so I was quite surprised by the thickness padded seat cushion.
Padded Shoulder Strap
Depending on your fishing location, a shoulder strap with padding is an absolute must if you need to walk more than 30 seconds to your fishing peg. If you've read my other beginner seat box reviews, I suggest purchasing some seatbelt pads to ease the pain - with this box you don't need to!
Included Side Tray
It boggles my mind how often cheap seat boxes never include such as basic necessity. Included in the box is a detachable bait box which can be attached at the front, side or rear of the box.
Dimensions / Size / Weight
The size is fairly standard for seat boxes with plenty of room inside to store all your reels, bait, rigs and flask for those wintery days at the bank. Weighing in at only 2.8kg (6.1lb)
- Width: 55cm
- Depth: 38cm
- Height (including seat cushion) 42cm
- Internal depth: 34cm
- Weight 2.8kg
Where to Buy
